Asafoetida is a gum resin obtained from the ferula plant. The shop offers it as powder and grains in 100 g sachets; the product page states the form and the use it is intended for.
Its smell is very strong: use small amounts, in a ventilated room, on charcoal or a heat-resistant holder. Close the sachet carefully after each use and keep it out of reach of children.
The powder is easier to dose than the grains and suits blends with other resins; the grains burn more slowly on charcoal. In both cases, a small pinch is enough for one session.
Keep asafoetida in its original sachet, tightly closed, away from other incense: its scent transfers easily. An airtight glass jar also works for longer storage.
